This tuna, tomatoes and onion salad is a delicious and fresh treat. It’s perfect for a warm summer day and it can be made in just a few minutes, yet the result is incredibly tasty and healthy! Plus, it’s ideal for bringing with you to a picnic, a hike, or a nice outdoor gathering.
We use canned tuna in water, but it is up to you whether to use canned tuna in oil or in water. If you choose the former, you may want to reduce or entirely skip adding olive oil to the salad. If you choose canned tuna in water instead, be sure to drain it well.
Keep in mind that this salad can feel a bit dry depending on the type of tuna you use, so it is fundamental to dress it well. We use olive oil and lemon juice and it works wonderfully, but you may want to skip the lemon if the tomatoes are acidic. Mayonnaise gives excellent results, too, but keep in mind that the salad becomes quite different.
We suggest to serve crackers with your salad, as it is perfect for scooping and the crunchiness of the crackers adds a wonderful texture to your meal. Also, white rice on the side works great, and don’t be afraid to mix them up a bit!
