Apple crumble is a fantastic little treat that’s fun to eat, hits just the right spot of sweetness, and is easy to make. Plus, it only needs small amounts of sugar and butter, so there’s nothing to worry about! After all, an apple a day keeps the doctor away, right? 😉

The key to success is to use the right variety of apples. We used Pink Lady apples, and the results were fantastic. In general, use a sweet and only slightly tart (if at all) variety, not one that is sour or very tart. Having said that, some varieties tend to get mealy when baked, so your best bet is to use a variety that you have baked before.

If you wish to make this vegan, simply use vegan butter. We tested it ourselves and the results were just as good! Or, if you really want to treat yourself (or your guests), serve the apple crumble with a scoop of ice cream or whipped cream.
